Let the Rhythm Guide You

Starting an exercise routine of any kind is a good way to start losing weight and heading down the path to a healthier life, but if you add music you'll see more results.

Whether you choose to run, walk, bike, dance, or even join a gym, if you incorporate music you will work out fifteen percent longer. Studies have shown that by listening to music while working out, you are more likely to workout longer and, because you are listening to enjoyable tunes, you will enjoy your workout more.

If you are having fun working out, then it makes sense that you will do it more often and work harder because you are having a good time. You will see results faster because you aren't dreading what you're doing and music feeds your emotions while you're doing your body good.

Another positive effect that music can have on your workout is that you are free to be in your own world. While listening to music you can zone out to the outside pressures of the world and just focus on what your body is doing. By allowing your mind to relax and only focus on one thing, you are creating a safe environment for your mind to wonder without any nagging feelings intruding.

When listening to music you are also free to be silly and sing out loud. If you want to do a little dance or sing in your American Idol voice, it's okay because you have head phones on and no one is going to mess with a woman working out.

So the next time you go to work out, or you think about starting a work out program, grab some music before you go because it will greatly increase not only your longevity, but also your mood.
